Boys Camping Trip

This past weekend John took the boys for an overnight camping trip at a campground not too far from our house. Tyler's best friend, Bryce and his dad went too. They had such a great time and loved being with dad without us girls. Nathaniel had an especially good time and asks EVERY day when he can go camping again.

Nathaniel caught his first fish. Unfortunately the thing was so little it didn't survive the ordeal. No big deal to Nathaniel though.

Most people try to keep raccoons out of their campsights, John on the other hand feeds them marshmellows. After this fellow was done with his treats he left and came back with his entire family.

While the boys were camping we girls ate chocolate, painted each other's nails, had a fashion show, and watched a fabulous Barbie movie. We would have taken pictures but the boys had the camera. It was a fun weekend and all the kids enjoyed having a little more individual attention from mom and dad.

Can you say Obsessed?!

Since moving back to Michigan Tyler has gotten VERY in to Star Wars. So of course he has wanted to see all of the movies. We had let him watch a couple that we borrowed, but 2 out of six is just not good enough. Yesterday after church we had dinner with some people from our ward and they let Tyler borrow all 6 of them. To be watched with our permission of course. John and I have not seen number 2 or 3 so we want to watch those before we let him see those two. We have heard that 3 is pretty intense. Anyway, we told him last night that he could watch one of the original movies this morning when his friend Bryce got here. I knew he was excited, but I had no idea just how excited until he came in my room at 4:oo this morning to see if he could turn Star Wars on. I of course told him to go back to bed, but he never did. He returned to my room several more times before I finally got out of bed around 7am. When his friend, Bryce got here around 8am he went running out to the drive way to tell him that he had been waiting for him and that he didn't start the movie without him. They came running inside, picked out their movie and didn't move for the next hour and a half. As soon as the movie ended they got their light sabres and ran outside to play. I wish that I could get up at 4am and have that much energy. It's a little sad to watch him grow up and start to leave the "little boy" things behind. I mean what ever happened to "Bob the Builder"? Why can't he still be content to just sit on the floor and line up all his little hot wheel cars? He's only 7 but it feels like he's growing up so fast. Sometimes I think that it would be nice to have the option to slow down the clock a little. Of course there are times I wish I could speed it up too. For example to get through this pregnancy a little faster. I guess we just have to learn to cherish the time we are in. Well I think that's enough of my motherly rantings. The good news is that shopping for Tyler this Christmas should be very easy.

4th of July Weekend

A Baptism

A couple of Sundays ago our good friend Brad was baptized. My kids were so excited for him. They knew that he had been working really hard to overcome his fear of the water and they had been praying for him every night. We are all so proud of him. It has gotten Emma so excited that she wants to be baptized right now. When ever she prays now she asks Heavenly Father to help her be ready to get baptized and not to be scared. Thank you Brad for being such a great example.
